One of the most difficult things to do when you are doing long distance running is to keep your focus. When fatigue steps in it is really difficult just to push your feet one step at a time. It takes a tremendous amount of concentration to keep your body moving. I have found this out for myself, so for those who are afraid that they might not be able to handle the difficulties of long distance running, here are some tips that you should bear in mind that will help in keeping your mind focused on the road:
Tunes- Portable music playing devices are the best aid to runners today. When I am running music can keep my mind away from the pain that starts to build up on my legs. The beat of the music that I am playing also helps me to keep track of my running. The right songs can help raise the adrenaline level in your body. Be sure to have your music player loaded with all the songs that keeps you blood up.
Run with a Friend- Another method that I find to be very effective when running for very long distances is that I run with a friend. You need not talk with the person that you are running with. It is enough that you know that someone is there with you so you can keep your concentration.
Keep Your Fluid Handy- Make sure that you have access to water or any other fluid when you are running. If you don’t want to carry your water bottle then plan your run to go around in a loop and you can place your bottle at a strategic location where you can always access it. Once you get dry and thirsty it becomes more difficult to concentrate.
These are just some of the tips that you can use for keeping your focus in long distance runs. You can use it in conjunction with the 100 day marathon plan, which is the best training program that you can undergo.
